Raised air intakes are an indispensable accessory for any serious Land Rover enthusiast. The air filter is tightly connected with the snorkel into a safe height which prevents the engine from sucking in water. The elevated air intake allows the safe passage of fords and prevents dirt and dust from being sucked in by the engine in extremely dusty environments. The safe wading depth of the Land Rover is usually about 50cm. Depending on the snorkel, considerably higher wading depths are possible. Be aware that as soon as the air filter is no longer the limiting factor, other assemblies may need your attention.
