Rolls Royce Silver Dawn and Silver Wraith as well as Bentley MkVI and R Type

Both Silver Dawn and Wraith, as well as Bentley Mk VI and especially R Type are models of upheaval and change. Equipped with the new 6-cylinder IOE engine, the Silver Wraith was the last model without factory bodywork. The slightly smaller Silver Dawn, which appeared three years later, was the first Rolls Royce to be fitted with a sheet steel body from the works. Individual bodywork was therefore no longer standard, but became an option.

On the technical basis of the Silver Dawn the Bentley MkVI was built. Also equipped with a factory body, the car differed significantly from the Rolls Royce models on which it was based. The successor to the MkVI, the Bentley R-Type, was the last model to differ significantly from its relatives in terms of technical features and characteristics. As a "Continental", the R-Type is certainly one of the most significant and accomplished vehicles of the early post-war period.
