The 356 was followed in 1963 by the 911, which to this day is the standard by which every sports car must be measured. It is suitable for everyday use and fast, a combination that has set it apart from the competition for over 50 years. The nine-eleven is generally seen as the epitome of the Porsche brand.
When the car was presented at the IAA in 1963, it was still called the Porsche 901. But Peugeot protected three-digit numbers with a zero in the middle as a type designation, so that the car was launched on the market in 1964 as the Porsche 911. As with the 356, the rear-engine design was the classic design principle.
In 1974, the top model of the 911 with a turbo drive came onto the market - the 911 Turbo. Since 1995, the 911 GT2, a weight-optimised and performance-enhanced version of the 911 Turbo, has also been produced in a small series. The 911 is available as a Coupé, Cabriolet and Targa.

The other classics at Porsche
However, the 914, 996 and 986 models as well as the four- and eight-cylinder 924, 928, 944 and 968 series, which were produced until 1995, are also among Porsche's popular classics.
One model in particular stands out and was only built 292 times: Biturbo boxer engine with water-cooled 4-valve cylinder heads, electronically controlled chassis, all-wheel drive system and an aerodynamically optimised body - the 959 is arguably the technology leader at Porsche. And although it had a proud price of 420,000 D-Mark, it was quickly sold out!
