Michelin XAS offers excellent steering precision. It was and still is the groundbreaking tyre for many classic enthusiasts.
Introduced in 1965, the Michelin XAS remained the measure of all things for many drivers until the end of the 1970s and made history: as the first tyre with an asymmetrical tread pattern, the inner and outer tyre surfaces were constructed differently and each took on different tasks.
Classic car drivers all over the world wondered: Asymmetrical? The answer was: Yes, asymmetrical! Like the foot!
The XAS was designed to take into account the effect of the tyre shoulders, sidewalls and different parts of the tread according to their position on the inside or outside of the vehicle, allowing safe and comfortable driving - just like on rails!
The XAS was the first mass-produced tyre designed for speeds of up to 210 km/h. From 1968, it was used as a mountain, rally and racing tyre for the circuit.
